Active Strong – Build Strength and Confidence
Active Strong is a friendly weights class designed especially for older adults. It is suitable for beginners and for people who already exercise. Each 45‑minute session uses a mix of light to moderate weights to help you build strength, improve balance and stay flexible. Exercises can be changed to suit your needs, so you can move at a pace that feels right for you.
This class supports healthy ageing by helping you keep strong muscles and bones, which makes everyday tasks like carrying shopping, climbing stairs and getting up from a chair easier. Regular strength training can also reduce the risk of falls and help you feel more steady on your feet.
Active Strong is run in a supportive group setting, giving you the chance to meet new people and enjoy being active together. Being social and staying active can lift your mood, boost confidence and help you stay independent for longer.
Classes are held at a Hume Leisure Centre and are low cost, making them easy to try and enjoy.
