If you have some spare time and enjoy socialising with older people, volunteer with the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. You’ll brighten someone’s day and help reduce social isolation and loneliness among older people. As a volunteer, you’ll enjoy chatting over a cup of tea, sharing a hobby, enjoying music, playing games, and taking walks. Or you can connect through video or phone calls. It’s a wonderful way to stay active, contribute to your community, and make new friends. To become an ACVVS Volunteer, you need to be able to commit to one hour a week and obtain police clearance (reimbursed). Visit the website to find out more and apply.
