Learn history

Brisbane Water Historical Society

Volunteering for the society at Henry Kendall Cottage and Historical Museum is a great way to learn about your local history and meet people. You can help in a variety of roles at the museum, and you just need to do at least one, five-hour shift per month. A 'buddy system' ensures that at least two people are on duty at any one time, so no one is ever required to 'mind the shop' on their own. You could help in front-of-house and chat with visitors. You can do general duties like keeping the various areas of the complex clean and tidy. You can do admin work, maintain the gardens, or you can look after artifacts and develop the exhibitions. It’s a wonderful way to get involved, be part of a team, share skills, and get to know people in the area.
