If you like to chat, love older people, and want to give back to your community, try volunteering for the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme.

You'll spend time each fortnight developing friendships with older people. Volunteers are matched with residents who live at home or in aged care facilities who may be lonely or socially isolated.

Your friendship will improve their quality of life. You'll bring a little companionship and joy each fortnight.

The time will be spent having a cuppa, going on outings, reading together, listening to music, playing games, and other activities.

They often need volunteers who speak other languages so it’s a bonus if you are multilingual.

Enjoy giving back to your community and helping others. It’s just one hour a fortnight and the visiting times are very flexible. Training and support are provided, plus there’s an opportunity for social gatherings.
