If you would like to help your council and get to know people in your community, volunteer for one of its programs.

If you like gardening, you can work as a volunteer garden guide or at an urban farm. You’ll weed, prepare food, plant seeds, grow herbs, vegetables, and fruit.

If you prefer, you can visit frail older people who may feel lonely, to enjoy a chat and a cuppa in their own homes.

You can help in the toy library, a children’s playgroup, or by teaching migrants the English language. 

You’ll make new friends and learn new skills. It’s a wonderful way to give back to people in need of a helping hand and meet like-minded people.
