Guide Dogs SA & NT
Guide Dogs is always searching for volunteers to help raise their new spring litter of Labradors.
The life of a ‘puppy raiser’ is a 12-month role. You’ll nurture and train an eight-week-old puppy until it’s ready to graduate as a trainee guide dog. You need to attend weekly puppy pre-school sessions where the pups can socialise and learn basic skills. You will be helping to set them up for a life of incredible service for people living with blindness and low vision across Australia.
You need to have a car and a fully fenced yard. You need to commit to being away from home for no more than four hours at a time, which is often ideal for older people.
Or if you are not able to be a puppy raiser, there are many other roles where you can help at Guide Dogs. It’s a wonderful way to spend time with dogs, stay connected, and make a positive difference in people’s lives.
