If you are interested in your local environment and want help to conserve nature, join a Citizen Science program. Citizen science is when you volunteer your time to partner with researchers. You'll be helping to increase scientific knowledge. Citizen scientists collect data, make discoveries, and explore nature. You will assist projects by observing where and when plants, animals, or fungi are present. You can help to transcribe information from museum collections to make it digital. Or you can assist by identifying animals in photos. You could be Cherry Gardens fauna monitoring, working with Kangaroo Island fire recovery, or be a sea lion spotter, and so much more. It’s a wonderful way to stay active and involved and keep learning new things. You’ll enjoy giving back to the community and meeting like-minded people.
