Northern Beaches Council
If you want to give back to your community and get to know local people, try volunteering for the Northern Beaches Council. There are so many ways to volunteer for your local council and the roles change all the time. You could be a mountain bike track volunteer to get out in the fresh air and stay fit. You can work as a driver or an assistant for social outings or shopping help for older, disabled, or disadvantaged people. You’ll make the day out more enjoyable, help people safely on and off the bus, and create a positive sense of wellbeing. Or you can join the Community Visitors Scheme. You’ll visit an older person in their own home for a regular social chat and a cuppa, maybe play a game, go for a gentle walk, or do some gardening. It’s a wonderful way to bring some companionship and joy to someone’s life and you’ll make a lifelong friend. Volunteering is a great way to stay active, feel useful, and stay connected to your community. Check the council website to find out what roles are available.
