If you have some spare time and want to volunteer, contact the Community Gateway. You will connect with a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout Northern NSW. You could volunteer for the Aged Care Volunteer Scheme in the Northern Rivers district. You will brighten someone’s day by offering regular companionship for older people. It helps to ease loneliness for vulnerable people living alone at home or in residential aged care. Or you could volunteer for the Tomorrow Ready project to build your skills ready for natural disasters. It's a wonderful way to help others in the community. You will get positive mental health benefits from being part of something bigger. Plus, you’ll be part of a network so you will meet plenty of like-minded, passionate people.
