SMRC provides extensive and essential services to refugees and migrants in Melbourne’s South and East. If you would like to help them create a unified Australia and help new migrants settle in Australia, volunteer at the centre. You’ll make a positive difference in the lives of refugees and migrants, especially if you can speak another language. You can volunteer in a range of interesting roles including a social support helper. You would help a senior group program to socialise, prepare the setting, and serve coffee and tea. You can act as a tutor to help people to learn English as their second language. Or you can regularly visit someone in their home for a cuppa and a chat. You’ll enjoy the companionship and helping people feel less isolated. It’s a wonderful way to keep active, give back to the community, and make new friends.
