Join the Greek Folk Dancers of NSW (now the Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney) if you like to dance and want to learn or improve your Greek dancing. The dance group provides performances for community events and social functions. Adults and children perform in the group and the adult classes normally run later in the evening. They have a social group, an intermediate group, and an advanced group. They offer monthly Greek Dance Workshops too. You could also join their dance instructors' series of lectures. They speak on topics of Greek dance including Ancient Greece and Dance, Medieval Greece and Dance, and Greek Folk Costumes. They also cover Greek Folk Jewellery, Greek Dance and Improvisation, and Regional Dances of Greece. It’s a great way to learn, meet other Greek people in the area, and to socialise. Adult classes run in Maroubra on Monday nights and at Bourke Street on Friday evenings.
