If you have some spare time and would like to get more involved in your local community, volunteer at your community centre or neighbourhood centre. You can volunteer in a wide range of roles to enjoy giving back to your community and helping people to learn and grow. You can work as homework tutors, bus drivers, cooks, on-the-ground staff, gardeners, and performers and artists at community events. Or you may work in the Aged Care Voluntary Visitors scheme, administration and reception workers, teaching a class or skill, and more. There will be a role to suit you even if you only have a small amount of time to give. It’s a wonderful way to keep active and busy, learn and share skills, and meet people in your area. You’ll feel a sense of reward and make a positive impact on people around you. Each centre has different volunteer roles and needs, so get in touch with your local house or centre.
