iLA acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands, skies, and waters throughout Australia and the Torres Strait where we live and work. We specifically acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which our head office sits, in Boorloo (Perth), Noongar Boodja (Western Australia).

We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities across Australia, and their Elders past and present.

We are committed to walking together to develop culturally safe information and initiatives that enable people to make informed choices and connections, and support strong, self-determining communities.

Raised garden bed

What is a raised garden bed?

A man gardening outside, standing at his raised garden bed.Raised garden bed

These flower beds have legs or high sides that raise the planting surface higher than ground level.

There are lots of models available to choose from. Some are around knee or thigh high and could be used with the garden kneeler or a chair, while others have extendable legs that make the planting surface waist high so you can stand to garden.

A raised garden bed is useful if you have trouble bending, getting up off the floor is hard, you lack flexibility, or you suffer from pain, or fatigue.

Everyday tips to help maintain your independence

A few simple processes and assistive products will make everyday gardening tasks easier. You can see some suggestions to help you outside the house by following the link below.
